Pura Vida is a Costa Rican saying meaning "to embrace a laid-back culture of gratitude, community, and focusing on the simple pleasure of life." We can't wait to do that with all of you. We'll walk to the beach at sunset for a short ceremony, raise a glass, and head back to the venue to eat, drink, dance, and see where the night takes us.
We'll keep the formal stuff short and focus on what matters: good food, great people, and pura vida.

Fly into Liberia
Daniel Oduber International (LIR) in Liberia, Guanacaste is the closest airport to Nosara. Fly here if you plan to drive or shuttle in. Most major US cities have direct flights. Book early: January is high season in Costa Rica.
Drive or Shuttle
Nosara is a 2.5–3 hour drive south of LIR. The roads are mostly paved, with some dirt near the end, so an SUV is best. Rather sit back? We can set you up with a shared shuttle. Once you're in Guiones you won't need a car. Everything's walkable or a short tuktuk ride away. Trouble booking? We can connect you with our concierge.
Puddle Jumper
Flying through San José (SJO)? Sansa Airlines runs small prop planes straight into Nosara's airstrip, a 40-minute scenic flight over the jungle. From there we'll point you to a shuttle for the quick 3-mile trip into town. There are no Ubers or Lyfts, but once you're in town, tuktuks will get you around.
Where to Stay
Stay in Guiones. Playa Guiones is full of affordable Airbnbs. Renting a house for a group? Try rentnosara.com or Surfing Nosara. Prefer a hotel? They run pricier than rentals, but there are great ones: the Gilded Iguana (longest-running, near the town center), Beach Break (central and more affordable), Sendero (newer, more luxury), and Bodhi Tree (a yogi's oasis). Whatever you pick, January fills up. Book early.
Tropical cocktail.
Breezy, beachy, and bright. We want you to look and feel like a piña colada. It will be hot and humid, so make sure you wear something light. The roads in town are not paved, so we recommend women bring or wear flats, and the men wear shoes that are easy to slip in and out of.

Yoga
Nosara is one of the yoga capitals of the world. Studios around town run daily drop-in classes for every level. We recommend catching a class at Bodhi Tree or The Harmony Hotel.
Surf
Playa Guiones is a consistent, sandy-bottomed beach break that's good for beginners. You can rent a board by the day from Juan Surfo's.
Dine
Nosara eats well for its size. It has strong coffee, long breakfasts, fresh fish, and plenty of local "tico" spots alongside the nicer restaurants. This Nosara food guide is a good place to start.
Beach
Playa Guiones and Playa Pelada sit a short walk apart. Both have miles of open sand, tide pools, warm water, and the sunsets Nosara is known for. If you choose to stay in Pelada you'll have to TukTuk to the main town and surf area, but the beach there is beautiful.

Which airport should I fly into?
Fly into Liberia (Daniel Oduber International, LIR) in Guanacaste. It's the closest major airport and most US cities have direct flights. San José (SJO) also works, but it means a much longer drive or a short domestic hop into Nosara's airstrip.
How far is Nosara from the airport?
From Liberia, plan on roughly a 2.5 to 3-hour drive, with the last stretch on unpaved roads. From San José it's closer to five hours by car.
Do I need a car?
It helps, but it isn't required. A 4x4 is the move if you want to explore the beaches and restaurants, since the roads are unpaved. If you'd rather not drive, airport shuttles are easy to arrange, and golf carts, ATVs, and taxis get you around town.
Do I need to bring my surfboard?
No. Board rentals are cheap and everywhere. Juan Surfo's and others rent by the day or week, so there's no need to travel with one.
Is there more to do besides the beach?
Plenty. Nosara has jungle ATV tours, waterfall rappelling, a coffee farm tour, a cooking class, and much more if you want to get off the sand for a bit. This Nosara activities guide is a good place to start planning.
Is it safe to drink the water?
Yes, the tap water is safe to drink. Costa Rica holds its drinking water to national health standards comparable to those in the US, so you can drink it, brush your teeth, and fill your bottle straight from the tap without a second thought.
Are children and babies welcome?
Yes, kids of all ages are welcome. Just keep the travel and the heat in mind, and plan around nap time.
Is there a registry?
Honestly, your presence is the gift. Getting here takes real time and money, and the fact that you'd make the trip to be with us means more than anything we could put on a list. We're not expecting a thing. If you do want to give something, we've set up a honeymoon fund and would be grateful for anything toward it, but please don't feel you need to. Either way, we feel genuinely lucky to have you in our lives.
